Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 545 new Covid-19 cases including 70 ones between the age group of 0-18 years in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the state to 10,25,309. While the number of positive cases reported September 27 was 444, it was 585 September 26. The active caseload in the state now stands at 5,587 while it was 5,702 September 27. Out of the 545 new infections, 319 were reported from quarantine centres while 226 persons contracted the virus locally.
Odisha also reported seven new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking the toll in the state to 8,187 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Tuesday morning. While Jagatsinghpur reported two deaths, Khurda (Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Ganjam, Jajpur and Kendrapara districts each reported one death.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 218 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack district with73 new infections. Notably, Khurda and Cuttack districts had reported 170 and 73 new cases respectively September 27.
Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (47), Jagatsinghpur (37), Jajpur (20), Mayurbhanj (14), Sundargarh (11), Bhadrak and Kendrapara (10), Jharsuguda (eight), Angul (seven), Ganjam and Puri (six each), Deogarh (four), Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Rayagada and Nabarangpur (three each), Koraput, Dhenkanal, Bolangir and Subarnapur (two each) and Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Gajapati (one each).
The State Pool reported 50 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. It was 37 September 27.
A total of 1,98,41,897 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 653.
