Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 585 new Covid-19 cases, of which 96 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,24,320. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,909.
Odisha also reported five (05) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,175 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Khurda reported highest deaths (two), followed by Keonjhar, Koraput and Puri districts (one each).
Out of the 585 new infections, 342 were reported from quarantine centres while 243 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 602 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 206 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 67 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (38), Jajpur (36), Jagatsinghpur (26), Mayurbhanj (25), Puri (22), Sambalpur (19), Angul and Sundargarh (13 each), Kendrapara (12), Bhadrak, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar (seven each), Bolangir and Ganjam (six each), Dhenkanal (five), Koraput and Nayagarh (four each), Deogarh and Malkangiri (three each), Bargarh, Kandhamal and Rayagada (two each) and Kalahandi, Nuapada and Subarnapur (one each).
The State Pool reported 47 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,97,26,507 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 601.
