Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 609 new Covid-19 cases, of which 97 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,07,112. Active caseload in the state now stands at 7,528.
Odisha also reported 67 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 7,901 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Monday morning. The state had reported 69 Covid-19 fatalities Sunday.
Cuttack reported highest 20 deaths. It was followed by Angul and Jagatsinghpur districts (nine each), Khurda (six), Jajpur (four), Kendrapara, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts (three each), Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Puri districts (two each) and Kalahandi and Subarnapur districts (one each).
Out of the 609 new infections, 354 were reported from quarantine centres while 255 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 849 cases of coronavirus infections Sunday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 209 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 71 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jajpur (36), Mayurbhanj (26), Dhenkanal (23), Balasore (21), Jagatsinghpur and Puri (20 each), Kendrapara (19), Angul (18), Sambalpur (16), Nayagarh (11), Deogarh (10), Bhadrak and Boudh (nine each), Sundargarh (eight), Ganjam (six), Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Rayagada (five each), Bargarh (four), Jharsuguda and Koraput (three each), Subarnapur (two) and Gajapati and Malkangiri (one each).
The State Pool reported 48 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,80,12,352 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 834.
