Odisha registers 623 new Covid-19 cases; 95 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 623 new Covid-19 cases, of which 95 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,20,244. Active caseload in the state now stands at 5,736.

Odisha also reported seven (07) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,135 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported six (06) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.

Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts reported highest deaths (two each), followed by Jajpur (one).

Out of the 623 new infections, 362 were reported from quarantine centres while 261 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 695 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 272 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 74 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jagatsinghpur (29), Balasore and Jajpur (28 each), Mayurbhanj (18), Sambalpur (15), Angul and Bhadrak (13 each), Ganjam (12), Kendrapara (10), Dhenkanal and Puri (seven each), Jharsuguda and Sundargarh (six each), Koraput and Nayagarh (four each), Bargarh and Keonjhar (three each), Deogarh (two) and Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Subarnapur (one each).

The State Pool reported 63 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.

A total of 1,92,56,682 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 756.
