Bhubaneswar: In the previous 24 hours, Odisha has confirmed 638 new Covid-19 cases, including 110 infections in the 0-18 age category, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 10,07,750. While there were 609 positive cases reported August 30, there were 849 August 29. The state’s active caseload has increased to 7,255 from 7,528 August 30. 367 new illnesses were recorded from quarantine cents, out of a total of 638 new cases.
Odisha also reported 68 new fatalities in the last 24 hours including a 2-month-old baby girl from Khurda district, taking the toll in the state to 7,969. The state had reported 67 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday.
Cuttack topped the list with 22 deaths, followed by Angul (11), Jagatsinghpur (eight), Kendrapara (six), Balasore (five), Dhenkanal (four), Bhadrak and Puri (three each), Jajpur, Khurda and Mayurbhanj (two each) and
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 260 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack district with 57 new infections. Notably, Khurda and Cuttack districts had reported 209 and 71 new cases respectively August 30.
Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Jajpur (34), Balasore (23), Kendrapara and Puri (21 each), Mayurbhanj (20), Jagatsinghpur and Sundargarh (19 each), Angul (16), Bhadrak (12), Deogarh (11), Dhenkanal (10), Sambalpur, Rayagada and Nayagarh (seven each), Bargarh (six), Jharsuguda and Ganjam (four each), Malkangiri (three), Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Nuapada (two each), Kalahandi and Gajapati (one each).
The State Pool reported 57 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. It was 48 August 30.
A total of 1,80,69,632 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 843.
