Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 719 new Covid-19 cases, of which 125 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,08,469. Active caseload in the state now stands at 7,159.
Odisha also reported 53 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,022 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Wednesday morning. The state had reported 68 Covid-19 fatalities Tuesday.
Khurda reported highest 19 deaths. It was followed by Jagatsinghpur and Keonjhar districts (six each), Cuttack and Puri districts (five each), Jajpur (four), Kendrapara (two) and Angul, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Nayagarh districts (one each).
Out of the 719 new infections, 422 were reported from quarantine centres while 297 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 638 cases of coronavirus infections Tuesday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 259 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 89 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (43), Mayurbhanj (30), Kendrapara (28), Jajpur (27), Jagatsinghpur (23), Bhadrak and Sundargarh (19 each), Angul (18), Dhenkanal and Puri (14 each), Keonjhar (13), Sambalpur (12), Nayagarh (11), Deogarh (nine), Boudh (six), Ganjam (five), Kandhamal (four), Bolangir, Kalahandi and Koraput (three each), Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Subarnapur (two each) and Bargarh and Nabarangpur (one each).
The State Pool reported 57 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,81,34,288 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 762.
