Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 771 new Covid-19 cases, of which 117 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,14,338. Active caseload in the state now stands at 7,042.
Odisha also reported eight (08) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 8,078 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Thursday morning. The state had reported eight (08) Covid-19 fatalities Wednesday.
Angul reported highest deaths (three), followed by Khurda (two) and Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Nabarangpur districts (one each).
Out of the 771 new infections, 448 were reported from quarantine centres while 323 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 762 cases of coronavirus infections Wednesday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 327 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 71 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (41), Jajpur (34), Jagatsinghpur (26), Puri (21), Mayurbhanj (19), Sambalpur (17), Angul (16), Bhadrak (15), Kendrapara (14), Sundargarh (13), Dhenkanal (12), Koraput, Nayagarh and Rayagada (11 each), Jharsuguda (nine), Deogarh and Keonjhar (five each), Ganjam (four), Bargarh, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur (three each), Bolangir (two) and Kalahandi and Nuapada (one each).
The State Pool reported 76 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,86,64,074 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 574.
