Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 849 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which 130 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,04,059. Active caseload in the state now stands at 8,288.
Odisha also reported 66 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 7,628 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Thursday morning. The state had reported 69 Covid-19 fatalities Wednesday.
Cuttack reported highest 15 deaths. It was followed by Sambalpur (11), Bargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts (eight each), Jajpur (four), Boudh (three), Bolangir, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi and Sundargarh districts (two each) and Balasore, Khurda, Puri, Rayagada and Subarnapur districts (one each).
Out of the 849 new infections, 492 were reported from quarantine centres while 357 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 887 cases of coronavirus infections Wednesday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 313 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 115 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (48), Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur (42 each), Mayurbhanj (26), Kendrapara (24), Puri (22), Sambalpur (20), Angul and Nayagarh (19 each), Bargarh and Sundargarh (15 each), Dhenkanal (14), Bhadrak and Deogarh (nine each), Keonjhar (eight), Ganjam (six), Koraput (five), Kalahandi (three), Malkangiri and Rayagada (two each) and Boudh, Gajapati, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Nuapada and Subarnapur (one each).
The State Pool reported 65 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,77,37,972 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 721.
