Bhubaneswar: In the last 24 hours, Odisha has recorded 8,520 new Covid-19 cases, of which 937 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking tally in the state to 12,04,660. Active caseload in the state now stands at 85,320.
Odisha also reported six (06) new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking tally in the state to 8,520 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Sunday morning. The state had reported seven (07) Covid-19 fatalities Saturday.
Angul, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kandhamal and Sundargarh districts reported one (01) death each.
Out of total 8,520 new infections, 4,941 were reported from quarantine centres while 3,579 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 8,845 cases of coronavirus infections Saturday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 2,262 persons testing positive for the disease, followed by Sundargarh with 932 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Angul (142), Balasore (346), Bargarh (141), Bhadrak (112), Bolangir (217), Boudh (86), Cuttack (789), Deogarh (75), Dhenkanal (90), Gajapati (98), Ganjam (88), Jagatsinghpur (165), Jajpur (253), Jharsuguda (118), Kalahandi (226), Kandhamal (100), Kendrapara (134), Keonjhar (126), Koraput (157), Malkangiri (58), Mayurbhanj (180), Nabarangpur (192), Nayagarh (216), Nuapada (199), Puri (149), Rayagada (187), Sambalpur (127) and Subarnapur (89).
The State Pool reported 466 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 2,71,31,889 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 11,344.
