Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 887 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, of which 131 are in the age group of newborn to 18 years, taking total tally in the state to 10,03,210. Active caseload in the state now stands at 8,226.
Odisha also reported 69 new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking total tally in the state to 7,562 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department posted Wednesday morning. The state had reported 67 Covid-19 fatalities Tuesday.
Cuttack reported highest 25 deaths. It was followed by Jagatsinghpur (21), Dhenkanal (nine), Balasore and Khurda districts (three each), Angul, Ganjam and Puri districts (two each) and Bhadrak and Keonjhar districts (one each).
Out of the 887 new infections, 515 were reported from quarantine centres while 372 persons contracted the virus locally. The state had registered 625 cases of coronavirus infections Tuesday.
Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 323 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 119 new infections.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Balasore (56), Jajpur (43), Puri (39), Jagatsinghpur (37), Mayurbhanj (31), Angul (27), Sambalpur (21), Keonjhar (19), Dhenkanal (16), Kendrapara (15), Nayagarh (11), Bargarh, Bhadrak and Deogarh (nine each), Sundargarh (seven), Jharsuguda (five), Koraput (four), Gajapati and Nuapada (three each), Ganjam, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Rayagada (two each) and Boudh and Kalahandi (one each).
The State Pool reported 69 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,76,66,741 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 1,035.
