Odisha registers below 500 new Covid-19 cases; 70 below 18 years

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 462 new Covid-19 cases including 70 ones between the age group of 0-18 years in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the state to 10,21,216. While the number of positive cases reported September 20 was 510, it was 623 September 19. The active caseload in the state now stands at 5,351 while it was 5,494 September 20. Out of the 462 new infections, 268 were reported from quarantine centres while 194 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha also reported five new fatalities in the last 24 hours taking the toll in the state to 8,146. Angul, Balasore, Cuttack, Khordha, and Puri districts each reported one death.

Khurda district registered the highest number of new cases with 201 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Jagatsinghpur district with 31 new infections. Notably, Khurda and Jagatsinghpur districts had reported 197 and 22 new cases respectively September 20.

Other districts that reported fresh Covid-19 cases are: Cuttack (30), Jajpur (28), Bhadrak and Sundargarh (16), Mayurbhanj and Puri (13 each), Sambalpur (12), Balasore (11), Kendrapara (10), Angul (six), Nayagarh (five), Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Rayagada (four each), Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Dhenkanal and Bolangir (two each) and Nuapada, Keonjahr, Kandhamal, Deogarh and Subarnapur (one each).

The State Pool reported 43 new cases. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. It was 47 September 20.

A total of 1,93,76,326 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 600.
