Odisha reports 2,698 new COVID-19 cases, total tally at 72,718

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported Friday 2,698 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infected patients in the state to 72,718. Out of new coronavirus cases 1,675 were reported from quarantine centres while the remaining were local contacts.

Ten new fatalities were reported in the last 24 hours. It took the total death toll in Odisha to 390.

 

District wise breakdown: Khurda once more topped the list of districts as far as the number of infections is concerned. The district reported 475 new cases of coronavirus infections. Other districts which had more than 100 cases in the last 24 hours are Cuttack (207) Ganjam (162), Rayagada (154), Koraput (146) Mayurbhanj (128), Sundargarh (103) and Balasore (102). While cases in Ganjam are on the decrease, it is on the rise in both Khurda and Rayagada.

The other districts from which new cases were reported are Nayagarh (94), Nabarangpur (91),  Bhadrak and Kendrapara (89 each), Puri (87), Kandhamal and Malkangiri (81 each), Jajpur (80), Sambalpur (78), Jharsuguda (72), Bolangir (71), Bargarh (56), Kalahandi (49), Sonepur (31), Angul (29), Dhenkanal (27), Jagatsinghpur and Keonjhar (21 each), Boudh (11),  Gajpati (eight), Nuapada (three) and Deogarh (two).

The total number of active cases in Odisha now stands at 23,699. With the recovery of 1641 patients Thursday, the total cases reached 48,576. In last 24 hours, 11, 72, 426 cumulative tests were conducted by the Heath Department of Odisha.
