Odisha reports highest single-day Covid-19 fatalities at 25 with 11,498 new cases

Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 11,498 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 6,55,899. The active caseload in the state now stands at 1,06,812. Out of the 11,498 new infections, 6,439 were reported from quarantine centres while 5,059 persons contracted the virus locally.

Odisha reported 25 fresh fatalities taking the total tally in the state to 2,403 as per a tweet issued by the Health and Family Welfare department. Kalahandi and Khurda (including three from Bhubaneswar) reported four deaths each; Angul (three); Ganjam, Rayagada and Sundargarh districts (two each); Bolangir, Boudh, Bargarh, Balasore, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Puri districts (one each).

Khurda district registered the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 1,497 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 1,107 new infections.

Other districts that reported new cases in the last 24 hours are: Angul (867), Sundargarh (703), Mayurbhanj (538), Balasore (524), Puri (424), Bargarh (395), Sambalpur (393), Nayagarh (382), Jajpur (378), Nabarangpur (346), Jagatsinghpur (325), Boudh (313), Bolangir (294), Koraput (266), Dhenkanal (251), Jharsuguda (247), Rayagada (233), Ganjam (228), Subarnapur (227), Kalahandi (205), Kendrapara (204), Keonjhar (193), Nuapada (152), Bhadrak (134), Deogarh (114), Malkangiri (110), Kandhamal (101) and Gajapati (86).

The State Pool reported 261 new cases in the last 24 hours. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive. A total of 1,11,18,984 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 10,036.
