Odisha reports more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for first time, total reaches 19,835

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Wednesday reported 1,078 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total tally in the state to 19,835.

The Health and Family Welfare Department also reported five additional deaths due to COVID-19.

Out of the 1,078 new cases, 721 were reported from quarantine centres while 357 are local contacts.

District wise breakdown: Angul reported one solitary case, Balasore ten, Bargarh 26, Bhadrak one, Balangir six, Boudh three, Cuttack 57, Dhenkanal two, Gajapati 24, Ganjam 371, Jagatsinghpur 35, Jajpur 20, Jharsuguda 34, Kalahandi 15, Kandhamal 24, Keonjhar 16, Khurda 121, Koraput 15, Malkangiri 66, Mayurbhanj 13, Nabarangpur 17, Nayagarh five, Puri 28, Rayagada 96, Sambalpur 20, Sonepur 10 and Sundargarh 29.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 6,387.
