Cases dipping: Odisha reports 2,470 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 2,470 new cases of coronavirus infection in the state in last 24 hours, state I&PR Department said in a tweet Thursday.

Out of the new positive cases, 1,462 persons were in quarantine while the remaining contracted the disease after coming in contact with infected persons.

The death toll in Odisha rose to 1,089 with 17 new fatalities reported in last 24 hours. Most of these COVID-19 patients were suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other complications.

District wise breakdown: In the last 24 hours, Angul district reported 170 fresh COVID-19 cases, Balasore 106, Bargarh 69, Bhadrak 67, Bolangir 91, Boudh 70, Cuttack 186, Deogarh 12, Dhenkanal 50, Gajapati 9, Ganjam 36, Jagatsinghpur 64, Jajpur 72, Jharsuguda 54, Kalahandi 55, Kandhamal 42, Kendrapada 87, Keonjhar 42, Khurda 368, Koraput 32, Malkangiri 30, Mayurbhanj 134, Nabarangpur 58, Nayagarh 23, Nuapada 85, Puri 87, Rayagada 31, Sambalpur 54, Sonepur 53 and Sundargarh 161. According to the department, the state pool stands at 72.

The current number of active cases in Odisha stands at 25,106. So far 2,62,011 persons have tested positive for the disease in the state.

With the recovery of 2,775 patients Wednesday, total 2,35,763 patients have recovered so far. A total of 39,21,1140 tests have been conducted in the state so far.
