Odisha: RTO officials fine minors Rs 25,000 each for driving without license

Rayagada: Regional Transport Office (RTO) officials Tuesday fined several underage drivers across Odisha during a special drive, a source said.

The RTOs did not reveal the identity of the minors. Out of the seven, two were from Rayagada district, two from Sambalpur district, two were from Bargarh district and one from Bhubaneswar in Khurda district.

The drivers were fined Rs 25,000 each during the ongoing special enforcement drive launched by the State Transport Authority (STA) across the state to stop underage driving.

It can be mentioned here that the special drive that started March 28 and slated to continue till April’s first week will mainly focus on the areas near schools and colleges to restrict underage driving.

Underage drivers will be fined Rs 25,000 each and strict action will be taken against them, the source in STA said.
