Bolangir: Ruchismita Guru — an album actress whose body was found hanging inside a house at Sudapada in Balangir district — was suffering from depression, deceased’s father said Monday.
Ruchismita – a resident of Talpalipara in Bolangir town — had previously undergone treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar to overcome depression, her father informed.
Ruchismita tried to get a breakthrough in acting in films and music videos. However, she often went into depression when she was unable to find any project, her father added.
Ruchismita’s mother stated that her daughter had tried to commit suicide in the past. Before the incident, there was a fight between Ruchismita and her, over the preparation of ‘aloo paratha’, she added.
Ruchismita allegedly died by hanging herself with a saree Sunday while she was at her maternal uncle’s house. She took to the extreme step while the members of her uncle’s family were out of house for a cultural event. When the family members returned at around 5 pm, they found her hanging.
Police have launched a probe into the matter and have sent the body for post-mortem.
