Boudh: A STF team with the help of forest officials from Boudh Forest Division have arrested a wildlife criminal and seized a leopard skin, deer skin, and other incriminating materials from his possession.
A source in STF said Sunday that based on a tipoff, a team of STF conducted a raid with the help of forest officials of Boudh Forest Division Saturday on the public road connecting Chhatranga to Harabhanga under Harabhanga Police Station jurisdiction in Boudh district and arrested Girish Kumar Sahoo.
During the search, three wildlife skins and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case has been filed against the accused under Sections 379/411/120(B) IPC and Section 51 of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.
He will be forwarded to the Courts of Judicial Magistrate of First Class (JMFC), Harabhanga, Charichhak, Boudh.
The skins will be sent to the Director of WII, Dehradun, for biological examination. Investigation is underway.
