Bhawanipatna: The special task force (STF) of Odisha police has seized three leopard skins and three deer skins in Kalahandi district, police said Saturday.
The source further said, on the basis of reliable information, a team of STF conducted a raid Friday evening at Sripalli square under M Rampur Police Station jurisdiction in Kalahandi district.
During the raid, the STF team nabbed one Khageswar Putel (56), of Pujiladu village under the M. Rampur Police limits of Kalahandi district. Three leopard skins and as many deer skins, among other incriminating materials, were recovered from the possession of the accused wildlife criminal.
The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court of JMFC, M. Rampur, STF source said. A Case has been registered against the wildlife criminal.
The seized skins, the source said, will be sent to Director WII, Dehradun for biological examination.
