Jagatsinghpur: One student drowned and two of his friends were swept away by swirling waters of Devi river in Jagatsinghpur district, a source said Monday.
A team of fire services personnel fished out one body later in the day.
According to the source, three students from Satya Nagar area of Bhubaneswar visited their friend in Ambashala village under Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district. Afterwards, four friends went to the river to take a bath Monday morning, but all of them accidentally slipped into deep water.
Later, one out of four students was saved by locals and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the source added.
Two students are still missing at the time of filing this report.
Fire services personnel have launched a search and rescue operation to find the missing students.
Last year December 18, a 14-year-old boy drowned after saving his sinking friend in Devi river.
