Bhubaneswar: The Department of School & Mass Education, Government of Odisha Monday informed that District Collectors will decide on new school reopening date keeping in view of the weather conditions in their respective districts.

If weather conditions are favourable and schools are allowed to open, morning classes will be held from 6:30am till 10am up to June 20, as per the education department.

While the Collectors of Khurda, Nabarangpur, Puri, Angul, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Balasore and Rayagada have decided to reopen the schools June 18, from 6:30 amto 10:30 am, some districts like Bhadrak, Bargarh and Bolangir have decided to extend the vacation till June 20. Sambalpur district administration has decided to reopen the schools June 21.

It can be mentioned here that members of Odisha Secondary School Teachers’ Association (OSSTA) have earlier appealed to the state government to extend the school reopening date — which was scheduled for June 18 before the commencement of summer vacation.
