Odisha: Three die inside booths in separate incidents during third-phase polling

Bhubaneswar: Three persons died at separate places during the third phase of voting in the state, Saturday.

In the first incident, an elderly woman, identified as Kumudini Dalei, 60, succumbed inside a polling booth at Patharapunji village under Baghuapalli panchayat of Nayagarh district.

Kumudini was waiting inside a booth to cast vote when she felt uncomfortable.  She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Similarly, a polling agent died inside booth no-136 at Bahalunda village under Nuabaga panchayat of Hindol Assembly constituency in Dhenkanal district.

The deceased was identified as Sukadev Pattnayak.

According to sources, Sukadev suddenly felt sick while on duty and became unconscious.

He was taken to Hindol sub-divisional hospital where he died.

In the third incident, Sujata Mitra, a polling officer of booth no 140 under Barabati-Cuttack Assembly segment, died while on duty. The cause of death was yet to be ascertained.
