Odisha: Three killed, six injured in Gajapati road mishap

Paralakhemundi: As many as three persons died and six others were seriously injured in a road mishap that took place Friday at Keradango Ghat under Serango Police limits in Gajapati district, said a source.

According to the source, nine passengers were traveling in an auto-rickshaw were heading towards Nuagada. Later, the driver lost control on the vehicle and the auto-rickshaw rolled into a 15-ft-deep gorge at Keradango Ghat.

The deceased have been identified as Luka Mandal, Dali Kar and a minor boy Pratyush Karji. The injured persons are the residents of Jalango, Badapada, K Baradanga and Nuagada villages.

After being informed, a Fire Services team went to the spot and initiated a rescue operation. Later, a team from Serango Police Station joined the Fire Services personnel in the rescue effort. All of the injured were taken to Khajuripada Community Health Centre (CHC) and were later transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Police have sent the three bodies for post-mortem and have initiated an investigation to determine what caused the accident.
