Jajpur: Three workers died and a few others were injured when a large chunk of earth caved in on them while they were working on laying pipelines at Kapilarahisina in Odisha’s Jajpur district Thursday.
Police said the deceased workers, hailing from Bihar and Tamil Nadu, were engaged by a construction company when the mishap occurred.
A huge mass of soil collapsed, and the workers were buried under the earth. Local people rushed to the spot, rescued the workers, and took them to the Jajpur district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
The other injured workers were discharged after treatment, police said.
