Bhubaneswar: In what comes as good news for farmers of the state, the Odisha government has decided to implement Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This was informed by Chief Secretary AP Padhi and Saurabh Garg, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department, Thursday.
Nearly 13 Lakh small and marginal farmers will be covered under the scheme in first phase.
Initially, a list of around 12.45 lakh first phase beneficiaries (small and marginal farmers of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme will be given to the centre. The state government will upload the list of beneficiaries in next two days.
The farmers will get the three installment of Rs 2,000 each under the scheme. The amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers.
Odisha Government’s decision of implementing PM-KISAN will ensure additional financial assistance for the farmers of the state, who are already getting benefits under the KALIA scheme.
Under the PM-KISAN yojana, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land upto 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs 6,000 per year.
PM Modi will launch the scheme February 24 nationwide.
