Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to increase the number of seats for Plus-II from the 2023-24 academic year to accommodate more students, said School and Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi.
The minister further said that the decision to increase the seats in Plus-II was taken in view of the higher pass percentage in the annual High School Certificate Examination this year.
This year a record 96.4 per cent of students have cleared the Class-X examination against 90.55 per cent last year. The seats would be increased considering the requirement, added Marndi.
Marndi said, the government also decided to open 106 new Higher Secondary Schools in the state in 2023-24 academic year. The schools will provide 13,000 more seats. Officers are asked to ensure that admissions of students are made smoothly without any hassle, he added.
