Odisha to introduce ‘School Clubs’ in secondary schools from 2023-24 academic sessions

Bhubaneswar: School Clubs will be introduced in all secondary schools in Odisha from the academic year 2023–24, an official source said.

The clubs will supplement the newly introduced aspirational curriculum of the state government and help students in providing personalized learning experiences, according to the source.

The introduction of the club system will also offer a platform for students to pursue their interests and hobbies beyond the classroom, the source here said Thursday.

According to the source, the suggestive names of the clubs are Sahitya Srujani, Jigyansa, Kaushali and Kridangan.

Each club will be led by students, and mentors will be designated for every club to guide students in organising various activities.

Chairing the Executive Council meeting of Mo School Abhiyan, Aswathy S. Commissioner-cum-Secretary stressed on the smooth implementation of the club system and reintroduction of Student Cabinets in all elementary schools with support from alumni members.

Proposals worth Rs 96.53 crores from 27 districts have been approved in the Executive Council.

According to a source, over the last two months, 10,931 alumni have joined forces with Mo School Abhiyan and contributed Rs 6.85 crores to the development of their alma mater.

Coupled with the donors’ contribution, CSR funds, and a 2X matching grant from the state government, the Executive Council has approved projects worth Rs 96.53 crores which will be available for the development of the 2513 primary, upper primary, and high schools across the state, concluded the soure.
