Bhubaneswar: The state government will organise roadshows in Hyderabad and Bangalore to attract private investments in the field of biotechnology in the run-up to the ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave to be held next month.
Official sources here said the main objective of the roadshows to be held this month is to brief and attract major industry players in the field of agriculture biotechnology, bio-pharma, bio-materials, bio-informatics and services.
The state government in association with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is organising the investors’ meet, scheduled to be held November 11.
Bharat Biotech, a Hyderabad-based biotechnology company, will establish a biotechnology park at Bhubaneswar in partnership with the state government.
The biotechnology park will have a state-of-the-art business incubation centre (BIC) and cluster of modules for bio tech investors.
This will provide opportunities for employment to skilled human resources of the state and demand based product development.
The unique bio resources of the state, particularly those in tribal, marine and coastal region, and different agro-climatic regions of the state will enable value addition and product development through biotechnology applications.
The major sectors of focus for attracting investments will be in the area of healthcare, agriculture, fisheries and marine biotechnology, vaccines and biological, medical devices, food processing and allied service sectors, sources said.
