Anandapur: Ten years after the murder of a three-year-old girl, Crime Branch (CB) sleuths conducted a scene recreation of the murder at Fakirpur village here in Keonjhar district, Saturday.

This was done after the arrest of the accused Prashant Sahani, the father of the toddler.

The girl was killed after Prashant flung her into swelling Baitarani river following a tiff with his wife Puja Sahani, August 18, 2013. He was absconding since that day. CB sleuths nabbed him from Muradabad in Maharashtra recently. Prashant was brought to Fakirpur where he recreated the heinous act.

CB sources said Prashant after a fight with his wife Puja lost his cool and threw his daughter into the Baitarani which was in spate at that time. Police registered a case and launched a probe after Puja lodged a complaint at Anandapur police station but there was no headway in the investigation.

Expressing displeasure over police probe, Puja filed a petition in the Orissa High Court following which CB took up the matter. Finally, it managed to nab the accused. He was arrested after the CB sleuths matched his PAN number, Aadhaar number and bank account number, inspector Devi Prasad Das said.
