Balasore: A utility truck carrying nearly 40 labourers Tuesday overturned on National Highway-16 near Nandika Square under Jaleswar police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district, a source said.
According to the source, as many as 10 labourers sustained injuries due to the mishap. Following the accident, all the injured persons were admitted to GK Bhattar Government Hospital in Jaleswar.
The source informed that the labourers were travelling from Baramile area in Mayurbhanj district to Kamarda in Balasore district.

One of the survivors of the accident said that the truck’s driver lost control of the wheels as one of the tyres got punctured which led the truck to turn turtle near Nandika Square on NH-16.
It can be mentioned here that road accidents are on a rise in Odisha. As per official data, as many as 5,467 persons were killed in road accidents in 2022 which is 7.6 per cent higher than 2021.
