Odisha Vigilance arrests Assistant Engineer in DA case

Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Engineer of General Public Health Section of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district was arrested by Odisha vigilance Thursday in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.

Vigilance sources said that Kishore Chandra Sahu, the Assistant Engineer, was arrested after DA to the tune of 313 percent of his known sources of income which was unearthed by Vigilance officials during house searches.

The movable and immovable assets of Sahu unearthed included one triple-storied building at Bhawanipatna worth over Rs 1.1 crore; two plots in a prime area of Bhawanipatna; deposits in bank, postal, and insurance over Rs 1.54 crore; Rs 2.65 lakh of cash; gold jewellery of nearly 441 gram and 700 gram of silver ornaments.

Household articles worth over Rs 5.47 lakh were also recovered.

Sahu is forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna for possession of disproportionate assets, and a case has been registered against him and his spouse.
