Odisha: Vigilance detects property worth crores in name of engineer, his family members

Bhubaneswar: The sleuths of Vigilance department Monday unearthed property worth crores of rupees from the possession of an engineer at Cuttack.

Vigilance sources here said on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by Bikash Chandra Bhuyan, Assistant Engineer, Sadar block, Cuttack, searches are being conducted at four places including at his residential house at Soubhagya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, house at his native village under Narsinghpur police station in Cuttack, at the house of relative at Chakeisihani, Bhubaneswar and at his office chamber at Sadar Block, Cuttack.

During the search one multi-storied building, seven plots in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs38 lakhs, Rs1 crore spent on education of two children, investment in cryptocurrency, one four-wheeler along with other assets unearthed so far in the name of Bhuyan and his family members.

Giving the details, Vigilance source said one double-storied well-furnished building at Soubhagya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, and seven plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack were also detected.

The measurement and valuation of the above building/plots are being carried out by Vigilance Technical Wing.

Further investigation is on.
