Odisha Vigilance sleuths unearth assets worth crores from Assistant Engineer

Baripada: Odisha Vigilance officials Wednesday unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from the possession of an Assistant Engineer at Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

Vigilance sources said that acting on the allegations of possession of disproportionate assets by Bansidhar Naik — an Assistant Engineer, PH Division Baripada — simultaneous searches were made at as many as five locations in Mayurbhanj Wednesday by a team of Vigilance department.

During the search operation the Vigilance officials have so far unearthed three multi-storied buildings, three plots, deposits over Rs 33lakh, around 250 grams of gold jewellery, one four-wheeler along with other assets in the name of Naik and his family members, added the source.

The measurement and valuation of the buildings/plots is being carried out by the Vigilance Technical Wing, the source said.
