Odisha weather alert: Cyclonic circulation likely to form over northwest BoB; IMD sounds heavy rain warning

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar in its weather alert of July 14 a cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 16, 2023.

Another cyclonic circulation lies over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood between 5.8 and 7.6 kilometre above mean sea level, informed the weather agency.

The agency further issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall in several districts of the state.

Upto 8.30 AM of July 15: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur,  Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Bolangir districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of July 15 to 8.30 AM of July 16: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Bolangir districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at many places over the rest districts of the state.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 36.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 22 degree Celsius was recorded at Nabarangpur, the bulletin informed.
