Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Sunday issued an Orange Warning along with a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of April 24: As per the Orange Warning (be prepared), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph with hailstorm are very likely to occur at one or two places over Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Angul and Boudh districts, the IMD bulletin stated.

Impact & action suggested: 

As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 are very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, Koraput, Rayagada and Nuapada districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in many places over the districts of south Odisha, north Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of April 24 to 8.30 AM of April 25: The weather agency issued an Orange Warning (be prepared) and a Yellow Warning (be updated) for several districts of the state.

As per the Orange Warning, thunderstorm, lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph along with hail and heavy rainfall are very likely to occur at one or two places over Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara districts.

Impact & action suggested:

As per the Yellow Warning, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Angul, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in many places in Odisha.

The weather agency forecasted no change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next three days and a gradual rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius thereafter.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 30 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 40.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Nuapada while the lowest minimum temperature of 18.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Angul, the bulletin informed.
