Odisha weather: Cyclonic circulation lies over Bay of Bengal; IMD flags Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Sunday informed that a cyclonic circulation lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood at 5.8 km above mean sea level. The weather agency also issued Yellow Warning for thunderstorm in different districts of Odisha Monday.

Upto 8.30 AM of August 14: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh and Angul districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh and at a few places over the rest districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of August 14 to 8.30 AM of August 15: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sundargarh, Keonjhar Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda and Kandhamal districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of north Odisha and at a few places over the districts of south Odisha.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 33 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 36.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Puri while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Balasore, the bulletin informed.
