Odisha weather forecast: Heatwave likely to return from May 15

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Friday predicted that the heatwave conditions are likely to prevail over several districts of the state from May 15.

Over the next two days light to moderate rain or thundershower are predicted over some parts and dry weather is likely to prevail over the rest parts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of May 15 to 8.30 AM of May 16: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave is very likely to prevail at a few places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Angul districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Gajapati and Ganjam districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of May 16 to 8.30 AM of May 17: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heatwave is very likely to prevail at a few places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Angul, Sonepur, Boudh and Bolangir districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of the state.

The weather agency forecasted no change in maximum temperature (day temperature) over the next three days and very likely to rise by 2-4 degree Celsius at many places in the subsequent two days over the districts of the state.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 43.4 degree Celsius was recorded at Boudh and Jharsuguda while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani and Nabarangpur, the bulletin informed.
