Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over several districts of Odisha.
According to the weather agency, the cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood extends up to 4.5 kilometre above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height persists.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal around September 3, 2023. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form during the subsequent 48 hours.
Upto 8.30 AM of September 3: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Boudh, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.
The weather agency also said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur districts.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
From 8.30 AM of September 3 to 8.30 AM of September 4: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Boudh, Subarnapur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts.
The weather agency also said that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Subarnapur and Boudh districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Odisha.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, rain or thundershower towards the evening is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 37.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Chandbali while the lowest minimum temperature of 22.8 degree Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri, the bulletin informed.
