Bhubaneswar: Monsoon is likely to gather some strength at the beginning of September, the regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar has said.
The weather agency issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms and lightning over several districts of Odisha September 1.
IMD did not flag any warning for heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours in its weather bulletin.
The agency informed that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Odisha over the next two days.
Upto 8.30 AM of August 31 to September 1: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati districts.
In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Balasore, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.
From 8.30 AM of September 1 to 8.30 AM of September 2: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.
In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorm or lightning is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 35 degree Celsius and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 36.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Chandbali while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Phulbani, the bulletin informed.
