Odisha weather: Thunderstorm, lightning very likely in these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Sunday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of June 5: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur districts.

Besides, hailstorm is likely to occur at one or two places over Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput and Kandhamal districts.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nuapada and Malkangiri districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Malkangiri, Ganjam, and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of June 5 to 8.30 AM of June 6: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput and Kandhamal districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Kandhamal districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha

The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha and it is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at one or two places in the districts of interior Odisha over next four or five days.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 40 degree Celsius and 28 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 44.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.6 degree Celsius was recorded at Keonjhar, the bulletin informed.
