Odisha weather May 28: IMD flags Yellow Warning for thunderstorm in these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Sunday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of May 29: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Keonjhar and Angul districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of south coastal Odisha, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of May 29 to 8.30 AM of May 30: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Gajapati districts. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Angul, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Balasore and Bhadrak districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal districts and at one or two places over the rest districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Nuapada and Bolangir. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state.

Temperature forecast: The weather agency forecasted no large change in maximum temperature (day) at many places over the districts and it is likely to be around 42 degree Celsius at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha over the next five days.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Bolangir while the lowest minimum temperature of 20.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Balasore, the bulletin informed.
