Odisha weather May 30: IMD foresees thunderstorms laced with lightning in these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar Tuesday issued a Yellow Warning for several districts of Odisha.

Upto 8.30 AM of May 31: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Rayagada districts.

In the same timeframe, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and at one or two places over the remaining districts of the state.

From 8.30 AM of May 31 to 8.30 AM of June 1: As per the Yellow Warning (be updated), thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Nayagarh districts.

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Khurda districts.

In the same time frame, light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur in a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at one or two places over the remaining districts of Odisha.

The weather agency forecasted no change in maximum temperature (day temperature) in the state. It is likely to be 42 degree Celsius or more at one or two places over the districts of interior Odisha over the next five days.

In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 39 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius respectively.

In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 43.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Sambalpur while the lowest minimum temperature of 23.0 degree Celsius was recorded at Nabarangpur, the bulletin informed.
