Odisha: Wild elephant dies in train accident

Keonjhar: A female elephant died after a goods train hit her near Jagannathpur village under Bamebari police limits of Champua range in Keonjhar district in the wee hours of Wednesday.

A source said that the accident took place between Nayagarh and Jurudi railway stations while the elephant was crossing the track.

Upon getting information, railway and veterinary department officials rushed to the spot. A senior forest officer of Keonjhar said the accident might have occurred due to dense fog.

The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) office at Bhubaneswar is monitoring the incident, the source added.
