Odisha’s ‘Gully Boy’ Rapper Dule Rock in soup for his video song

Bhawanipatna: Migrant worker-turned singer Duleshwar Tandi, who is popularly known as Rapper Dule Rock, is facing trouble for a music video.

The 28-year-old singer, who is a tuition teacher, is in soup as three police complaints have been registered against him for the video song he had posted on social media May 19. The song promotes vulgarity and hampers women’s dignity, it is alleged.

The rapper has been courting a fair amount of criticism from various quarters since the video went viral.

The first report against the singer was lodged at Bhawanipatna town police station by Kalahandi Youth and Students Council, president, Abinash Thakur.

In his complaint, he requested the police to take action against the singer as per the law. He also said that the singer has apologized for his misconduct through a Facebook post.

The second report was lodged by Sunil Kumar Munda, a resident of Kalimandir Pada here at Bhawanipatna police station. And, Kalahandi Kosal Sena has lodged the third report against the singer at Koksara police station.

Kalahandi SP Saravan Vivek, when contacted, said they have received the complaints and after investigation action would be taken as per law.

A science graduate of Borda village under Bhawanipatna block in Kalahandi district, Tandi used to wipe tables and wash plates at a restaurant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He had gone there to help his father treat his ailing mother back at home.

After his father’s death, he had to return home. Moved by the plights of migrant labourers during the lockdown period, he accorded their sufferings a place in his raps and instantly touched a chord with the people of Odisha.

Last year, after coming to know about his financial hardship, Odia play back singer Humane Sagar, famous Hindi film music director Vishal Dadlani and Odia music director Prem Anand had extended their helping hands to Tandi.
