Sambalpur: The Sambalpur district administration has taken initiatives to have a ‘City Bus Terminal’ near the bus stand area to accommodate city buses.

Revenue Divisional Commissioner of Northern Division Dr. Suresh Chandra Dalei and the Sambalpur Municipal Commissioner (SMC) Pradeep Kumar Sahoo visited the Kainsir area close to Ainthapali main bus stand to find suitable places for the terminal.

The city bus service under Western Odisha Urban Transport Service Ltd (WOUTSL) began in Sambalpur 29 January, 2014. The SMC invested 40 percent, SDA 27 percent, Jharsuguda Municipality and Bargarh Municipality 16.5 percent capital each for it.

But nine years after its functioning, it has no infrastructure of its own. The buses park in the OSRTC garage inside city during night having insufficient space. “We have seen two/three places. We will finalise a site soon for the purpose,” said Pradeep Kumar Sahoo.

He further informed that efforts are being made to launch E Vehicles in Mo Bus service in Sambalpur.
