Odisha’s short film ‘Warriors War Within’ based on COVID-19 bags three international awards

Bhubaneswar: A silent short film titled ‘Warriors War Within’ has bagged three international awards, bringing glory to Odisha.

Producer, director and actor Gajendra Kumar Padhi’s film of 12 minutes and 22 seconds duration on the theme of coronavirus was screened at three film festivals in US, Bhutan and Singapore and was awarded at all the three festivals.

Besides this, the film has been selected for screening at Golden Bridge Istanbul Short Film Festival and Anatolia International Film Festival.

The film revolves around a nurse’s dedication. The film brilliantly depicts how a corona warrior treads a fine line through the nurse’s character. The nurse has a breastfeeding baby back at home and she is attending COVID-19 patients at her workplace. Even if she wishes to take her baby in her lap and breastfeed it, she cannot. As the film proceeds, it sheds light on how difficult is the life of a corona warrior.

Gayatri Rath did justice to the nurse’s role. While Ambikesh Kunal Hota edited and scored music for the film, Gagan Kumar Rout was the man behind the camera and light.

In spite of not using a single dialogue, the film has charmed its way into the hearts of jury members. Gajendra Padhi, the writer, director and producer of the film, says it was shot in a day, following all COVID-19 guidelines. And he has dedicated the achievement to the people of Odisha.
