Bhubaneswar: Sohini Mohanty of Odisha has emerged winner in the under-16 singles category of a tennis tournament in Karnail, Punjab. Sohini is just 12 years old but she dominated the finals Thursday with a fluent 6-1, 6-3 win over Sia Mahajan of Chandigarh. The student of Farhan Ali was in complete control of proceedings as she broke her opponents serve repeatedly to win the singles title comfortably.
Sohini a student of Loyola School, then added the doubles title to her kitty in this under-16 tournament affiliated to the All India Tennis Association (AITA). In the doubles final, Sohini along with her partner Mansi Singh of Delhi defeated Sia and Shokhya Gaddam 6-2, 6-2. It was another easy match for Sohini and her partner as they fluently stroked the ball to emerge winners. The Odisha girl thus ended the tournament with a double crown.
