Offline classes for class-XI students’ begin in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With strict adherence to COVID-19 norms, offline classes started Thursday for Class-XI students across Odisha.

According to the SOP issued by the School and Mass Education department, the higher secondary schools across Odisha will remain open from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM for physical classes of Class XI students.

However, attendance will not be enforced. Furthermore, online method of teaching will remain the preferred method of teaching at institutions and students may attend schools/institutions in consultation with their parents /guardians.

It is worth mentioning here that offline classes for all the students were suspended in the state owing to the pandemic situation.

Before reopening of the schools, all teachers were directed to get vaccinated and the district education officers have been directed to make it sure that Covid-19 norms are followed at institutions.

Following provisions are to be made in schools:

a) Ensuring social distancing and queue management inside and at the entrance of the premises, specific markings on the floor/ground with a gap of 6 feet should be made.

b) Inside classrooms, students should be made to sit at safe distances/alternate desks. Fixed seating should be ensured. A particular seat/space should be earmarked for each student (for example: based on roll number) so that there is limited exposure to other students’ physical spaces.

c) Physical distancing shall also be maintained in staff rooms (by earmarking seats for teachers at an adequate distance), and other common areas (mess, libraries, cafeterias, etc.) with relevant markings as required.

d) If available, temporary space or outdoor spaces (in case of pleasant weather) may be utilized for conducting classes, keeping in view the safety and security of the children and physical distance protocols.

e) There must be adequate soap (solid/liquid) and running water in all washrooms and toilets. Hand sanitizers etc. for the teachers, students, and staff must be available mandatorily in each classroom.

Welcome to Students

Since the students are coming to Higher Secondary Schools from far off places for the first time after admission and some of them may have experienced difficult situations due to the pandemic, they need to be welcomed and counselled regarding the academic, curricular and co-curricular activities.

Induction Session on Re-opening Day

There must be an Induction Session at every higher secondary school for orientation of the freshers on the opening day by following these instructions.

The streamwise Induction Class should be conducted on 21st Oct, 2021 for freshers’ separately. The details of the Roll No. and Hall wise arrangement needs to be done and it should be notified prominently.

One guardian/parent shall be allowed to accompany the fresher to the Induction Hall.

Induction class must be conducted by the concerned Principal /Sr. Teacher.

The fresher shall be informed about the brief history of the institution and its rules and regulations, the importance of Higher Secondary class for future career of a student. The sketch of the class rooms and other facilities shall be displayed to the fresher.

Awareness about Career Portal

The students will be informed about the state career portal (http:/lodishacareerportal.com) having details of more than 550 career options.

Introduction to Proctor

The students will be introduced to their respective Proctors who will guide them about their subject combination, section, group and time table. A proctor is a teacher who will liaison between the student and the institution.

School Uniform & identity Card

All freshers’ should attend classes with proper uniform by Nov 1, 2021. A temporary identity card shall be provided to the fresher.

Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM/ e-PTM)

The parents/ guardian present shall be intimated to attend the parent-teacher meetings to know the progress of their ward.

Awareness on CHSE Syllabus

The students will be informed about the CHSE, Odisha syllabus available in www.chseodisha.nic.in and they will also be informed about the availability of all textbooks as per the CHSE, Odisha syllabus for +2 Arts, Science and Commerce in the website of Textbook Bureau Odisha https:/www.textbookbureauodisha.in in PDF form.

Awareness on YouTube Live Streaming Class

The YouTube Live streaming classes in Arts, Science and Commerce will be conducted for students of Class-XI from Monday to Friday as per the time table provided by DHSE. The students should be made aware about the usefulness and availability of YouTube classes.

Orientation regarding Continuous Evaluation of Students

The CHSE, Odisha has notified the new pattern of assessment to be introduced from the current academic session (2021-22) for continuous learning evaluation of students of both class-XI and XIl. The students may be enlightened about it from the day one.

To link the concept of Class-X

Since the students did not attend previous class due to pandemic situation, the teachers should plan to cover the link concepts of class-X for easy understanding of content to be taught in class-XI.

Ensuring Ragging free Campus/Hostel

While internal squads shall be constituted to maintain discipline in the campus during class time, special attention to be given to hostels to avoid ragging and maintain hygiene.

Appropriate COVID-19 protocols

Everyone must be vigilant and follow appropriate COVID-19 protocols during conduct of Classes and in hostels.
