Bhubaneswar: Following the aftermath of Cyclone Fani that deferred the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2019, students appeared for the exam that was conducted at 53 centres across the state, Saturday.
The state level exam that was to be held in Paper-Based Test (PBT) mode May 12 and Computer-Based Test (CBT) May 13 was postponed owing to disruption of network and power supply post the severe cyclonic storm.
The exam was held in two parts— First part between 9 am and 12 noon and the second part from 2 pm to 4 pm. As per reports, 29,900 candidates took the exam for admission into first year degree courses in Pharmacy, Integrated MBA (5 years), lateral admission to second year (third semester) engineering/technology/pharmacy/ MCA and first year master’s degree courses in computer application (MCA), business administration (MBA), M Tech, M Pharma, M Arch, M Plan and M Arch (executive).
The candidates who appeared for the exams blew hot and cold regarding the change of date. “The shift in dates really helped,” said Nabneet Pradhan a candidate here. “I was lagging behind in my preparations but the extra time helped me prepare well,” Pradhan added.
On the contrary some were displeased with the shift in dates. Another candidate Sasmita Swain complained that the new dates have forced her to shift plans. “While the postponement of exams was understandable, it shouldn’t have been this long.” Meanwhile, the OJEE board has changed the examination centre at Puri. The centre, which was fixed at Government Women’s College, Station Road, has been shifted to SCS Autonomous College, Chandan Hazuri Road.
