Olly creating a buzz ahead of Men’s Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar: The promotion for Hockey World Cup event has kicked off with various campaigns across the state. Besides murals, buses are seen carrying now- almost-household slogan Odisha by Morning, Hockey by Evening.

And, Olly, the official mascot of the Odisha Hockey World Cup, has started touring all the districts of the state including the capital city Bhubaneswar. Olly along with a replica of the Hockey World Cup can be seen making rounds in popular areas like Sahid Nagar, Patia, Dhauli, etc in the city.

Manoranjan Barik, a member of the team that is visiting the places, said that Olly’s city tour had started October 16 and during Durga Puja it visited all the pandals. The purpose is to create awareness among the people about the sporting extravaganza.

Olly was in Sambalpur to promote the mega event. Hundreds gathered on streets to welcome the caravan and mascot of the event. Thank you Sambalpur!

In the Capital city, two vehicles are engaged in promotional events at several places which would continue till the final day of the event, said Bijay Kumar Puhan, another member of the team.

The city people also enjoyed the presence of Olly and they can be seen posing for a photo session with the mascot.

Odisha is the title sponsor of the Men’s Hockey World Cup at Kalinga Stadium here from November 28 to December 16, 2018.

Tourism, Sports and Youth Services Secretary Vishal Dev said, “Odisha people are quite excited about the event and such rally will create more excitement for the event.”
